Toefl iBT Essay-7

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
It is more important to learn general knowledge in various subjects than to learn specialized knowledge in one subject.

Some students take many classes that cover all kinds of topics, and this seems to be the right thing to do. In my view, learning a lot of general knowledge in diffirent subjects is definitely better than getting specialized knowledge in one topic.

It is simply ideal to become a well-rounded person with knowledge in many subjects. For one, a broadly educated person is able to talk knowledgably about a number of diffirent topics. It does not necessarily mean the person has a complete understanding of each topic. But having knowledge about many things can help people in a variety of situations. One example is my sister. She just graduated from college. While in college, she took classes in many diffirent departments. Thanks to her well-rounded education, she knows a lot about many diffirent topics. Her broad knowledge helps her make friends with many diffirent kinds of jobs and talk to all of them about what they do.

Having knowledge in many diffirent subjects can give you wide options for future jobs. It is important to be able to do many diffirent jobs since the job market can change swiftly. For example, what would happen if the only job a person had trained for suddenly became obsolete? Or what if there were no jobs available in that field? Without any other options, a person would never get a job. By having even a basic knowledge of diffirent subjects, however, people can increase the number of possible jobs they can do. By having more options, they are giving themselves a better chance to succeed in the future.

In conclusion, people need general educations rather than specific ones. General knowledge helps them become well-rounded individuals, and it also allows them to choose from more various occupations. I am getting a general education now, and I am definitely pleased about this fact.
